In an interview on 大象传媒 Radio Jersey with Edward Sault she said she found her rapid rise from the relative unknown to making the main play list on Radio 1 as 鈥渁ll a bit bonkers really鈥.听 Although Nerina now lives in London she says that Jersey, where she grew up, is still home; 鈥渋t鈥檚 the place that shaped me, it鈥檚 my home island鈥, and she still has cousins and friends living over here. Growing up in Jersey she felt that her musical talent was supported, she had great local piano and singing teachers, 鈥渢he Eisteddfod was an amazing thing鈥 and found that 鈥渁lthough Jersey鈥檚 small I realise, from talking to people who grew up in England, we were very well catered for with the Arts.鈥 Adding, 鈥淚 was lucky, really lucky, because it鈥檚 a small place it wasn鈥檛 too hard to get the attention you needed, and the music standard in Jersey is pretty high鈥.
