On an island where options of where to go once the pubs have chucked out are somewhat limited the opening of a new nightclub is always eagerly anticipated. Several weeks ago Liquid Nightclub on the Waterfront closed its doors to weekend revellers to undergo a dramatic refurbishment, and has emerged a couple of months later re-branded as Liquid Envy. | Envy will be open to strictly over 25s only |
The most noticeable change for regular visitors once you step inside the premises is the introduction of a separate Envy bar; for the strictly over 25s only at the weekend. The over-25s bar also includes a small VIP area which will be able to hold in the region of 20 people. The layout of the main Liquid club (over 18s) is very similar to before the refit, with a circular dance floor as the centrepiece of the room. However, to make room for Envy the size of the main club room has been reduced and the capacity of this area has dropped by several hundred to just over 500. Downstairs on the balcony area the layout remains predominantly unchanged with all new fixtures and fittings installed. When the smoking ban comes into force (in November of this year) outside on the balcony will be the only place remaining to have a cigarette. The doors open to the general public for the first time this Saturday. To listen to Liquid Envy Manager Allan Bale explaining the over 25s policy click on the link below:
