Jersey U18 1 - 3 Scotland FA U16
| Scotland's International U16 team |
Jersey Under 18s went down 3-1 to the Scotland F.A. Under 16s at Springfield Stadium on Thursday 14 September. "Hopefully we'll be back next year. " | Scottish coach, Ross Mathie |
Scotland led with a goal scored midway through the first half by David Love. Jersey equalised at the resumption of the second half听as a low Danny Flyn freekick caught the edge of Stephen Forbes boot deflected in for an own goal. As the Scots increased their tempo another goal wasn鈥檛 far away, they hit the Jersey crossbar twice and Greg Forster produced a super save from David Love. However he could do nothing but watch a sweet curved placement from Ryan Martin find the corner of his goal. 8 minutes from time the game was safe as slack defensive play opened up space for Archie Campbell's pace which took him past goalkeeper Forster for a 3rd Scottish goal. It was a much closer听and better run out for the Scots than the 11-nil scoreline against the Jersey Under 16s on Tuesday, with Jersey Under 18's having more stamina and strength it provided a much better match for the Scotland team giving away 2 years.
Scottish International Youth Team Coach Ross Mathie thought Jersey played very well in the first half although felt that they tired somewhat in the second half. He was "absolutely delighted" with the visit to Jersey, and said; "it's a wonderful surface to play on, our boys are raving about it...hopefully we'll be back next year to prepare one of our teams again."
