Sunday Morning and Talkback; it has become a part of the fabric of my weekend and also – it seems – very much the same for many people in Jersey. It is a time when my two guests answer the points raised by the contributors and sometimes take issue with them.

There are many occasions when there is simply not time to include all the e-mails and comments, phoned through the producer, for me to put on air. If not used, they are always passed on to Roger Bara for inclusion in the weekday phone-in but, as I always say, Talkback relies on phoned-in contributions and like any good phone-in, callers come first.

States Members take a holiday during the summer but the programme continues, looking at certain themes – tourism for example, or people’sÌý healthÌý – in more detail.

It could be a “Gardeners Question Time“ from the RJA & HS in Trinity or, on one occasion, a live broadcast from a coastal walk near La Rocque. (see pic)

Sometimes IÌý broadcast a recorded meeting which I think is important enough to take over the programme. I believe this has a place in the format for it allows other members of the public – who might ask a question at a public meeting, but who are wary of ringing up a radio programme – to have their views picked up and promulgated.

WithÌý a few gaps I have been presenting this programme since the mid – Eighties so, in a way, it has become part of my life. I am conscious that I invade many homes on a Sunday morning and I feel I know everyone there. I might not know their faces but I will recognise them when they speak.
