High-fall tower

My old French teacher once told us about a beginner learning French, who for a homework excercise, wrote that on his holiday in Paris he'd seen the "High-fall tower". In case you haven't guessed he meant the Eiffel Tower, which still makes me laugh now, but im fairness, it makes sense!

Old Learner

When I was a young woman and pregnant an elderly French lady suggested if I had a boy I should call him "Ug". I could not agree and said I had never heard of a boy called Ug. She said it was a popular name in English books. She wrote it for me. It was Hugh. The funny pronounciations work both ways!
