Sunday 10 February 2008 Game 1 Woodkirk Valley Under 7s (Orange) 2 - 7 Ossett Albion Under 7sOn a beautiful sunny morning over the windswept hills of Woodkirk, Valley unbeaten in their last four games, came out full of fire and determined to put on a good show for an enthusiastic crowd. Woodkirk had a great chance to score early on with excellent work from the midfield trio of Harry, Finley and Alfie but soon after found themselves a goal down. Woodkirk re-grouped and strung pass after pass together with man of the match Joe instrumental in every move, but that final touch was just eluding them. Then the unthinkable happened as they conceded a second goal minutes before half time. The second half saw Woodkirk come out battling hard only to concede two more goals in quick succession.听A fresh impetus was needed and on came Jake for Alfie.听Goalkeeper Jamie's throw to Archie and a slick pass through midfield to Leon saw him score. Woodkirk were working hard for one another but were just out muscled and let in another three goals to end their unbeaten run. Game 2 Woodkirk Valley Under 7s (Black) 1 - 2 Ossett Albion Under 7sThe second game saw both teams start with all guns blazing and chances came for both sides early on. Woodkirk's midfield started to dominate with some good precise passing and tackling from Ethan and Joshua to feed the forwards. They were unlucky on numerous occasions and went into the break one nil down. Valley started brightly in the second half but goalkeeper Ben had to keep Woodkirk in the game combining with some good tackling from Isaac and an exceptional defensive display from Gregory which earned him the man of the match award. Half way through Woodkirk conceded a second goal but didn't let their heads drop.
