World Art Gallery Ancient Egyptians: Location: The Guildhall
Guildhall The Guildhall contains the third oldest public library in the country,听dating back to 1632. It was often used for theatrical performances, banquets and civic events. It was Leicester's Town Hall until 1876. After rebuilding, it became a public museum in 1926. Today, as a well known museum and performance venue, the Guildhall attracts lots of visitors from around the world. It is a mysterious place. The Guildhall is reported as the most haunted building in Leicester. Location: Jewry Wall Museum
Jewry Wall Museum The archaeological collections听range in date from 300,000 years ago to the end of the Middle Ages, including some rare and exciting Roman collections.听 As one of the famous landmarks of Leicester, the Jewry Wall is a rare example of Roman walling, dating back to nearly 2000 years. It is accepted as the second biggest piece of surviving Roman building in UK. The ruins of the Roman baths were excavated in the 1930s. It sits between the Jewry Wall and the museum. The history of baths may date back to 150 A.D. The past life and history of Leicester was revealed to us in a vivid way. Location: Bradgate ParkBradgate Park is a beautiful public park in the northwest of Leicestershire, which is an ancient deer park. It is well know as the home of Lady Jane Grey, the nine days Queen. Bradgate Park It covers 850 acres. The hills and walled spinney are delightful. The River Lin runs through the park. You can excitingly see听red deer running in the park. The beer-mug shaped tower called Old John stands on the top of the hill. It's one of the county's most famous landmarks. It was given to public by Charles Bennion in 1928. It is a good place to be close to听 nature and to relax. Location: Castle Gardens
Castle Gardens Rock garden, mixed borders and a river boat landing are the central features of this four acre garden. The statue of Richard III sits in the front of the garden to commemorate his burial. The Grand Union Canal passes the side of the garden. Castle Gardens is a part of Leicester's Castle Monument.
