Christina Lewis has a very confident and optimistic view of the Special Olympics in which she is participating. "I'm looking forward to winning a medal," she says. It's a sign of how good a swimmer she is that she has already won 20 medals. Christina is now 20 years-old, but has been swimming since she was aged five. Help playing audio/video Christina started volunteering at a nursery in Earl Shilton three years ago. She says: "I just like to interact with the children and parents." Sandra from the Footprints Nursery has high praise for the Olympian swimmer, "It's really good to have Christina here. "Most people working here are volunteers but Christina is very good. She gets involved...She is very good at helping mums. This is great as it's a very busy place... "We support her swimming by fund raising and so on." Christina's favourite stroke is breast stroke and she can swim a length in about 40 seconds.
FundingFund raising is very important as without it she would not be able to compete. Christina's mum and dad are huge supporters and make a big contribution. Christina can't wait for the summer.
