As an elderly gentleman i regularly feel intimidated by local youths & hoodies but i can honestly say that all the times i have been to Springfield Park i have never seen anything other than people enjoying the space and playing. It would be such a shame to lose the park it is a local asset and should be treated like one. Many of these people who describe the park as anything less have probably never been there. Would you be happier to just burn all the trees and build on all the parks. Then the hospitals will be busy as people will be suffering alot more with breathing problems such as athsma.

I spend alot of time in Alder Hey as a child myself, infact they saved my life on a couple of occasions. I have always supported the hospitals charity events and helped to raise funds but i am a regular user of Springfield Park and feel that it would be a disaster for the area if the park were to be built on. I wouldnt like Alder Hey to leave the area but we must protect what little green area we have left. There must be another way for the hospital to get the extra space needed. The park is used on a regular basis by many youth football schemes aswell as local residents, there are many animals in the park who use the well established trees for homes. We must fight to conserve this historic area.

I should like to put forward a solution where all parties gain. Follow the example set by nearby Arrowe Park Hospital. When they needed some extra on site accommodation, they built on staff car parking space. In return they urged staff to car share, use alternative transport, set up park and ride schemes and urged the local council to improve public transport access. Look at the gains:
:: Less congestion, especially at peak traffic times
:: Improves access for emergency vehicles
:: Less pollution
:: Exclusive parking for visitors (as opposed to the current free-for-all access giving staff about 95% of the available parking space)
:: A massive financial saving for the Hospital 鈥 they must be spending something like 拢1m a year just to look after cars.
:: The displaced staff would get a warm feeling knowing that they are improving our local environment and public transport
:: And most importantly, we get to keep our much used and enjoyed local park

I have enjoyed the park for many years. My son was very ill as a child and stayed in Alder Hey where he was looked after so well but he spends many happy hours at the park. I feel that there must be some other area that can be built on surely. The council have found room for the Paradise Street development after all. This park is ours. we enjoy its greenery and wildlife. It is part of OUR heritage and has some lovely trees in it. My great grandfather donated a tree here. Although I applaud the hospital and agree we must not lose it, we can comprimise. Why not use Urban splash who have a great record in regeneration of the areas of Liverpool. PS I feel I must also protest at the efforts of the Liverpool Echo to blackmail its readers into doing the councillors work for them with biased articles and letters (see 5th november saturday)
Please keep our beautiful trees and green spaces.

i think the hospital should stay. Our children's health is more important than a local park. Especially where dogs foul the land and local yobs hang out.

i think alder hey should stay exactly where it is many people like myself have sick children and children with severe disabilities trust where the hospital is they helped my son a lot and my daughter so why move this fantastic hospital for children some where else and upset the public and their children , the hospital belongs in liverpool where it is the place where it is now is meant for that hospital please dont spoil this...

Contrary to what Chris from Aigburth says, Springfield Park is a well used park, as anyone who has passed through the place at weekends will testify. Our parks are as important as our health facilities -- we shouldn't be trading one off for the other. There must be other options.

Our kids have used Alder Hey a number of times - I think a prestigious childrens hospital is far more important than a park (which seems to be used mainly as a dogs' toilet!).
Keep Alder Hey in Liverpool.

Hasn't anyone considered the land that would be freed once the existing hospital is no longer in use ? Isn't it true that Alder Hey don't want to use that because they can sell it to developers at a profit - and not as parkland ? The city's parks are an important public resource, and those who complain that no-one uses them are probably the same people who don't go to museums and art galleries. Should we lose all of those as well ?

Surely the work that this world famous hospital carries out, outways the fact that they want to build on a park? I have taken my children to Alder Hey on numerous occassions and they have received excelllent care. I feel extremly lucky to have this wonderful hospital and the talented staff who work there in our city. Surely we should not take the chance that we loose this wonderful institution!

I have a lot to be grateful for to Alder Hey Hospital. The Staff there saved my life as a seven year old after I fell on a knife. I have always felt that the hospital is something the people of Liverpool can feel really proud about.Please don't let it move.

I was treated at Alder Hey 20 years ago for cancer and I think it is a wonderful hospital. Alder Hey needs to stay where it is and it is definitely more important than a park.

When i was 4 i had a thing called hsp, and i could of died becuase of my blood vessels, leeking into my kidneys and intestines i wouldnt want alder hey to move i liked it there

Is the park proposed the one opposite the big Sainsbury's? If so, I cant see the problem. I drive past there regularly and rarely are there people in there, besides the odd scally doing what scally's do best! I say give the land to Alder Hey and see what parkland they then give back - I bet it is something far better than what is there at present!

Most of the objectors very rarely visit the park unless they play youth football or walk a dog. Lets have forward vision the parks a mess its little used and should be given to the Alder Hey project and lets see what they give us back as green space and I'll bet its better than we have now!!

Until recently, the hospital had an attractive avenue of Trees on the north side. About a year ago, the trees were cut down and the whole area paved for exlusive staff parking. So much for their concern for our local environment.
