Liverpool Sound City

Four days of music and debate will take place at venues across Liverpool this May.

Liverpool will host four days of music and debate this May for the inaugural Liverpool Sound City.

Dave Pichilingi, who has taken Liverpool groups to the South By Southwest Festival in the U.S. is organising Sound City from 27 to 30 May, 2007.

鈥淚t鈥檚 got a big conference element to it so we鈥檙e bringing in delegates from all over the world, people from the labels and the music industry in America, Europe and event the Far East.

鈥淔or four days we鈥檙e going to be debating and discussing the Hard Day鈥檚 Night Hotel. And there鈥檚 a children鈥檚 element to it with a number of things with local schools.

鈥淔or the last two years I鈥檝e been going to festivals all over the world, South by Southwest, In The City and so on.

In 2007 Dave Pichilingi organised a showcase of Liverpool bands at South by Southwest. Groups that appeared included The Wombats, 28 Costumes, Candie Payne and Delta Fiasco.

Sound City promises to use a variety of different venues across Liverpool including cellars, car parks, churches, boats and warehouses.

鈥淚n the evening we鈥檙e taking over 20 different venues and putting on parties and performances,鈥 says Dave Pichilingi.

鈥淚nstead of just putting bands on we鈥檙e working with all the record labels for example EMI, Island Records, Domino and Deltasonic.

鈥淭he focus will be very much on the labels themselves.鈥
