The Playhouse season opens on 14th October 2003. Some of the highlights include:

ART - an invigorating, yet poignant exploration of what it means to be a friend. Winner of the London Evening Standard and Olivier Awards for Best New Comedy when it opened in London in 1996, ART has since gone on to become the most successful play in Broadway history, winning the coveted Tony Award and breaking box office records on both sides of the Atlantic. The cast for this production will include Christopher Cazenove.

Hannah and Hannah
Hannah and Hanna.

Hannah and Hanna comes to the Everyman during November, the story of a teenage friendship between an English girl and an asylum seeker, which is threatened by society's prejudice and bigotry. Written and directed by John Retallack, Hannah and Hanna was nominated for the 2002 TMA/Barclays Award for Best Play for Young People.

A new adaptation of Flaubert's classic Madam Bovary by Fay Weldon and directed by Polly Teale. Shared Experience has thrilled audiences the world over with their powerful and visually stunning productions and have been a particular success in Liverpool after Mill on the Floss (Playhouse, 2001) and The Magic Toyshop (Everyman 2001).

After the great success of Willy Russell's Educating Rita in October 2002 and his performed reading of Shirley Valentine in April 2003, the Christmas production at the Playhouse will be Breezeblock Park by Willy Russell. Glen Walford, director of the successful Educating Rita, returns to direct an outstanding Liverpool cast, to be announced shortly.

Christmas at the Everyman sees the return of the infamous Rock and Roll panto - this year's offering in the form of Mother Goose. Produced by the same creative team as last year's hit Aladdin - The Wok 'n Roll Panto, Mother Goose promises audiences the usual music and mayhem to entertain and delight all ages.
