London Bombings

Ken Livingstone in Singapore

The week that changed London: Mayor Ken Livingstone

Mayor Ken Livingstone talks to 大象传媒 London Political Editor Tim Donovan about the 7th July bombings and the lessons that have been learnt.

Mayor Ken Livingstone has described the combination of the Olympic bid victory and the attacks on the 7th of July as a 'rollercoaster ride of emotions'.听

Just one day before the bombings, London was announced host city of the 2012 games, beating Paris in a nail biting finish.听 Ken Livingstone, along with Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell and Lord Sebastian Coe were in Singapore to hear whether they'd led the capital to Olympic success.

Within 24 hours bombs exploded on board three underground train carriages and one doubled decker bus. One year later and questions still remain about how and why London鈥檚 commuters were targeted.

The aftermath of the 7th of July attacks are still being felt by those injured or those who lost loved ones.听
