Brick Lane is a film created by a range of people from different backgrounds and cultures who live, volunteer or study around Brick Lane. Volunteers and young people from St Hilda鈥檚 East Community Centre and Spitalfields City Farm came together to work on a short animation film exploring the religious history of Brick Lane.听 They met for 6 weeks at various religious and historical venues in and around London's vibriant east end and interviewed people in the local area and each other, where they learnt about different religions and varied views.听 The 鈥淏rick Lane鈥 film was part of a wider project, Faiths United, funded by the Home Office to promote community cohesion between Muslim and Christian faith groups in the local area.听 Faiths United has also run inter-faith art sessions at St Hilda鈥檚 East Community Centre and has brought together Christian and Muslim faith leaders in the Weavers Ward area. The resulting animation film, 鈥淏rick Lane鈥, will be sent out to all Primary schools in Tower Hamlets in early 2007 to be used as a teacher鈥檚 tool for RE lessons.
