Ealing Central library Fancy a new age library?Ramaa Sharma 85 PCs, flat screen TVs and an Xbox can now be found in the newly refurbished Central library in Ealing, but is it to everybody's taste? Two million pounds has been spent on Ealing Central library, a library that had been looking tired for decades. Based on the first floor in the Ealing Broadway centre, the library reopened its doors to the public on Tuesday after having been closed for over a year. The library has now been totally transformed. It is a very modern looking spacious building but is also one that has been described as a rather sterile and a clinical one. Design company Bisset Adams was responsible for the look and feel of the new library.听 Elizabeth Webb from Bisset Adams says: "Although there is a lot of technology in the library - such as 85 computer terminals for internet access and a self-serve area for the checkout and return of books and other items - the design is calm and light." Teenagers will be able to borrow video games as well as books from the library. A Xbox 360 is also available for keen gamers. A mini cafe and a performance space has also been added to the library.
