You cannot deny iconic status to the Isokon building for its ideas towards modern living. It looks like an ocean liner resting in the murky backwaters of London.

i think the isokon is the best

God Help Us if these are the best! Should be jail sentences for the architects.

Extension to a private town house in Marylebone? It looks more like a chimney to me...

Imperial College in Kensington SW7 is by Foster and Partners.

A lapis jewel, unpretentiously mirroring it's neighbours, it almost brings the sky down closer to earth, -what a beautiful building.

I was taught at school (many years ago)tht we had pitched roofs so the rain can run off all flat roofs eventualy leak.

I am quite astounded that people in a city such as London would consider these buildings to be anything other than rubbish. They are completely devoid of creativity. A cube or flat walls are hardly creative; these things are as simple and as boring as can be. True architectural marvels are buildings such as Wren's St. Paul's Cathedral. Those who think architecture is not at all about aesthetics think so only because they have no creativity and want to feel that, in spite of being untalented, they can make worthwhile contributions. The old classics of architecture are still the best and always will be. Modern architecture, unfortunately, is all about the cheapest method to make a building; functionality over aesthetics is merely a pretence.

Isokon was in fact designed/built by Wells Coates as commissioned by Jack Pritchard founder of the Isokon plywood furniture company. The refurbishment, after years of neglect, was performed by the above firm.

Isokon flats are really stunning - the St Mary Garden house is fab too. The Orangery is imaginative and the new square by Tower of London is a great improvement, but the others are SO DULL. We are so tired of the cliched glass shoe-boxes - DULLSVILLE - so boring. So 1990's - so LAST Century - Lets move on!

Buddy
Many people seem to forget that architecture is not all about aesthetics. Surely the functionality of a building surpasses the look of it?
