Do something
to remember the coming of the 2002 Commonwealth Games. A new bridge
that will take people to the City of Manchester Stadium needs a
name and 大象传媒2002 need your help to name it. The winner will get
to go to the naming ceremony and their choice will live on as the
name of the new bridge!
Construction
of the new bridge - designed specifically to incorporate a wide
pedestrian and cycle footpath as well as providing a key route for
the Metrolink extension through the area - is ahead of schedule
and will be complete in time to provide the vital pedestrian route
for the Commonwealth Games due to take place in July 2002.
Installation
of the new bridge represents around 拢14 million worth of investment
that is being funded jointly by GMPTE, English Partnerships, Northwest
Development Agency and Manchester City Council.
The works are
part of the 拢30 million worth of investment that has been secured
for the Ashton Canal Corridor by New East Manchester Ltd.
So send in
your suggestions. You could use the name of a person who has done
a lot to help your community or a name from the past, it's up to
you!
Email your
entries to 2002@bbc.co.uk before
the end of April 2002.
