As the Commonwealth
Games draw ever closer, a free public information leaflet has been
produced to help local businesses and residents plan for the inevitable
changes it will bring to the usual routine.
Called 鈥楨njoy
the Games鈥 it is available from libraries, leisure centers and tourist
information centres and details all the major events in the city
and advises people on how best to deal with these.
Frances Done,
chief executive of Manchester 2002 said: 鈥淔rom 25 July to 4 August,
Manchester and the surrounding area will be an extraordinary place
so inevitably, ordinary life will be slightly different. The biggest
multi-sport event ever held in the UK will be happening on our doorstep
and we hope this pamphlet will go some way to helping people to
prepare and adapt their normal routines so they can enjoy the Games.鈥
She added: 鈥淭his
is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to show millions of people all
over the world that Manchester is a warm and welcoming city and
we hope everyone will welcome our visitors, plan ahead and enjoy
the Games.鈥
