Piccadilly Station promise

Ongoing work on the Piccadilly Station concourse

With just over a week to go before the Commonwealth Games commence, Manchester Piccadilly Station is still in the midst of construction work.

大象传媒 2002 Commonwealth Games Radio reporter James West went along to the station to see how work is progressing and to chat with commuters.

While commuters were generally positive that the station would be impressive when complete, they were concerned that work would not be finished before the commencement of the Games and that this would give visitors a bad impression.

However, speaking on 大象传媒 2002, Railtrack representative Peter Clough was confident that the public areas would be ready in time. "We've always committed to completeing the project by the 24th July and we're definitely on target to improve on that." he said.

"We understood that people, visitors and competitors would be coming through station prior to the 24th July and we're endeavouring to get all of the main public areas completed by the end of this week."
