Manchester International Festival

2 Many DJs
2 Many DJs

The resolution starts here

Low-brow, high-brow, everything in-between… the debate about what the Manchester International Festival has to offer is open, but few can doubt that in Industrial Resolution, what they’re offering is one big party!

With a DJ line-up across the two nights of the Festival’s central weekend that most clubs would die to have in a year, Industrial Resolution is set to be a knees-up to end all knees-ups!

Why’s it so exciting? It’s probably the dizzying array of styles on offer.

Amongst others, there’s techno-pioneer Laurent Garnier, big-beat behemoth Fatboy Slim, thrilling house merchant Sasha, leftfield master Gilles Peterson, electro wonder Erol Alkan, breakbeat treats Layo and Bushwacka, and the formidable eclectic excellence of 2 Many DJs.

And that’s not even mentioning the two real legends on the bill. In the blue corner, the ‘Godfather of House’ himself, Frankie Knuckles, while in the red, it’s possibly the most famous and consistently top DJ on the planet, Carl Cox.

But this being the MIF, it’s not just about the music; it’s also about making something new and original, and that job falls to visual artists from Microchunk, led by director Todd Graft, who’ll be producing custom-designed, interactive, spontaneous multi-media using mosaics – images within images – to focus on a series of issues relating to the industrial and digital revolutions including ecology, music, computation, politics and communication: a completely unique juxtaposition of Manchester’s history and future.

Understandably, Festival Director Alex Poots is very excited, simply stating that "this will be the ultimate club night for the original party city." With such a selection of DJs on offer and the additional fun and wonder of the visuals, he might just be right.

Industrial Resolution is at Manchester Central (formerly G-MEX) on Friday 6 (tickets - £32.50) and Saturday 7 July (£40). It is £70 for both nights. Tickets go on sale on Friday 20 April.
