"Dance
music got too big for its self so we're taking it back to the beginning,
" says David Vincent the man who resurrected Tribal Gathering.
Tribal
Gathering
"The
days of the super clubs and the massive names playing for five minutes
are going and dance music's now seeing the real people who really
want to be a part of it.The people who joined in for the ride are
leaving the dance scene and that's good because now clubs are getting
back to what it's really about."
David
Vincent took over the Tribal Gathering brand back in '99 determined
to breathe fresh life into Manchester clubland.
"I
was just a clubber who wanted to make it real again.Things had got
too big and I felt that the audience wasn't getting value.Massive
venues with 10 or 11 arenas were great for publicity but for the
paying punter, there was no way that you could get to see all the
acts and the DJs.
I'm
about smaller venues with fewer arenas but keeping a quality lineup
with longer sets.People don't just want to hear twelve records they
want value from a DJ set and that's what I'm aiming to give them.
We've
got some big names on this weekend and that's because as Tribal
Gathering we can attract them.I want to give today's young people
a chance to experience dance music as it used to be the way it was
in the warehouses in the eighties. It's new to them and I know they'll
like it.It's how I started and I know that they'll appreciate real
dance music."
David
Vincent will be doing a Sankeys special for clubbing very soon!
