How a multi-media project supports peacebuilding in Myanmar

Our research briefing describes the process behind the creation of our innovative multi-media project Khan Sar Kyi (Feel it!).

How are people in Myanmar experiencing issues of conflict? What do people think about the importance of peace in Myanmar? What do they think about how it affects their everyday lives and their future? What information sources do they use and trust to learn more about these issues?

Our research briefing describes the process behind the creation of our innovative multi-media project Khan Sar Kyi (Feel it!).

Publication date: June 2019

Authors: Yin Min Htun, Muk Yin Haung Nyoi, Anna Colquhoun and Nicola Bailey

Overview:

In 2018, 大象传媒 Media Action undertook formative research with diverse communities and key stakeholders across Myanmar to understand more about their priorities and what issues they faced in their families and community in relation to peace and conflict. These research insights were then used to develop a new multi-media project Khan Sar Kyi (Feel it!), funded by the Joint Peace Fund.

This research briefing discusses the key insights which emerged from the study, and how these were used to shape and develop new TV and online content which would reach and engage people in the peace process. The aim is to support audiences to increase their understanding of the root causes and consequences of divisions and armed conflict in Myanmar.
