Everyone has the right to good sexual and reproductive health...talking about it should be the norm rather than the exception.
Employing a combination of drama, comedy and factual discussion to encourage young people to learn directly from their peers, Love9 addressed topics including contraceptives, STIs, sexual orientation and consent. The Love9 website, YouTube and Facebook channels provided additional space for audience members to engage in the discussion. By the time Love9 had finished in 2016, the programme had gathered over 2.5 million views on YouTube and over 550,000 likes on Facebook.
Over its final twelve months, Love9 reached just over half (53%) of young people aged 15-24 in Cambodia, equating to an estimated 1.7 million young people.
We believe that everyone has the right to good sexual and reproductive health and that talking about it should be the norm rather than the exception. Love9 aimed to help young people talk about sex in a country where the topic is often seen as a taboo.
We during the making of the programmes with NGOs and health professionals in Cambodia specialising in sexual and reproductive health, as well as exchanging tips and useful ideas both to boost their work and our own programme content.
