That Peter Crouch Podcast will see Crouchy, Tom Fordyce and Chris Stark discuss some of the best bits from the podcast so far; No Country for Young Women will ask how it feels to live within a Christmas obsessed society when you don’t get to be part of it; The Gemma Collins Podcast will delve into exactly how the GC gets festive; and You’re Dead to Me will look at how the Victorians did Christmas (and why their Christmas cards were so weird). Elsewhere, Hooked will have an episode called Sober Christmas, and the second series of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward ¬will return with A Whisper in the Darkness.
Music on Sounds will see Greg James, Rylan, Trevor Nelson, Scott Mills and Chris Stark sharing their curated festive music mixes designed so listeners can wrap presents and make the Christmas dinner as some our biggest DJs do the same; as well as mixes from Gemma Collins, Gavin and Stacey’s Christmas Soundtrack, Ali Plumb’s Christmas Movie Soundtrack and Metronomy’s Alt Christmas Mix.
Hooked Christmas Special
Hooked is 大象传媒 Radio 5 Live’s podcast about addiction and recovery, and was commissioned after it won the station’s Rachael Bland Podcast Award. Presenters Jade Wye and Melissa Rice take a warts and all look at the reality of addiction and mental health through their frank conversation and searingly honest interviews.
The Christmas episode will be called Sober Christmas and will discuss the coping mechanisms, funny stories and difficulties of how to get through the festive period when so much of the social aspect is centred around having a drink.
That Peter Crouch Christmas Special
On Christmas Day join Crouchy, Tom Fordyce and Chris Stark (pictured top) for some of the best bits from That Peter Crouch Podcast, including ‘Crouchfest’, when they sold out the O2 Arena for a live recording which included some very special guests.
The Whisperer In Darkness
An expected phone call turns Matthew Heawood’s attention to a mystery in the gloom of Rendlesham Forest - is this folklore, paranormal, otherworldly? It's up for debate, but fertile ground for a new investigative podcast, that’s for sure. One question still lingers: will our host be rejoined by his roaming researcher, Kennedy Fisher?
The duo’s last update patched together frantic updates from Baghdad as they pursued suspected occultists in The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward. Very little hope lingered of solving the mystery, and maybe even less that Kennedy would return home safe. But for now, a new investigation calls.
Following the success of podcast drama The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward, Radio 4 commissions a return to this HP Lovecraft-inspired universe. Once again the podcast embraces Lovecraft’s crypt of horror, this time the sci-fi stylings of The Whisper In Darkness.
Making Mince Pies With Jill Archer At Brookfield Farm
Join Jill at Brookfield Farm as she bakes a batch of her much-loved mince pies in the Aga. Listen in while she brings together a dough, rolls it out and cuts it into perfect rounds before filling it with her homemade mincemeat.
There’s even time to whip up some brandy butter and enjoy a cup of tea while they cook. But although we’re welcomed into Jill’s kitchen she won’t be giving away all the secrets of her recipe...
The Archers eavesdrops at Brookfield on a rare visit to Ambridge on a Saturday - a second soundscape capturing the quieter side of life in the village.
Available on 大象传媒 Sounds from 7 December.
You’re Dead to Me Christmas Special
You’re Dead To Me returns for a Christmas special, with comedian Russell Kane and historian Dr Fern Riddell joining host Greg Jenner to explore how the Victorians celebrated Christmas - and why their Christmas cards were so weird!

No Country for Young Women Christmas
What do you do at Christmas when you’re Muslim, but love Mariah Carey? And how do you crimbo-up jollof rice? For their festive episode Sadia and Monty tuck into mince pies and pull some crackers while they explore how it feels to live within a Christmas obsessed society when you don’t get to be part of it, and share how ethnic communities celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.
