Booking for 大象传媒 Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull has now closed and all available tickets have been allocated. We’re sorry if you missed out this year – we had 50,000 tickets across the two days, but with well over half a million people living in the areas covered by Hull City and the East Riding of Yorkshire councils, there were simply not enough for everyone hoping to go.
We do have a final few tickets to give away in on-air competitions on Radio 1 – keep listening for further details about these. Of course, you’ll also be able to enjoy extensive coverage of the weekend across Radio 1 and online here.
How Do I Get To The Event?
There will be 25,000 people coming to Radio 1’s Big Weekend each day and, in order to make your experience as enjoyable as possible, we strongly advise you to plan your journey to and from Burton Constable Hall in advance.
Ticket holders must purchase a ticket for the official Shuttle / Park & Ride service, in order to get to the event site at Burton Constable. This is to ensure that all ticket holders can get to and from the event safely and as smoothly as possible and to reduce congestion in the local area. Tickets for the Shuttle / Park & Ride service will be priced at £13 per person, including handling and postage, plus £7.50 per car.
Please see our Travel Information page for full details of how to get to the event.
There will be Blue Badge parking available for disabled ticket holders. See our Disabled Access Information page for info on how to book a space.
What are the age restrictions for the event?
There is no age restriction at 大象传媒 Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull; however under-16s will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over. You may be asked for ID to verify your age.
Acceptable forms of ID are:
- Valid passport
- Valid EU photocard driving licence
- Photographic ID card with the National Proof of Age Standards Scheme – PASS - hologram
Children under two years old do not need a ticket, but those two and over will need one. Please bear in mind that this is an outdoor event, with loud music and large crowds expected – it is not an event designed for young children.
Bars will be operating a ‘Challenge 25’ policy. If bar staff feel you look under the age of 25 they will ask you to provide photo ID with proof that you are over the age of 18. The three forms of ID above will be the only ones that will be accepted.
Who is playing?
The event will be similar to previous Big Weekends, with a Main Stage, a Where It Begins tent and a 大象传媒 Introducing stage. Check out our line up page for more details about the artists announced so far. Please note however that line ups may be subject to last minute change.
Can I change my ticket for another day?
No, sorry, we are not able to swap tickets from one day to another.
What time does the event start and finish?
Gates for 大象传媒 Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull will open around 11am each day. The event should finish around 10pm on both days.
When will I get my tickets?
If you live within the area covered by Hull City and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the surrounding region (those with other York, Doncaster and Lincoln postcodes), you should receive your tickets in mid-May. Tickets will be sent to the address provided when booking and we are unable to change the delivery address. Tickets are printed with a unique barcode, which is scanned at the entrance to the event. They are fully traceable and we can cancel them at any time by invalidating the barcode.
If you were successful in getting one of the ‘Rest of the UK’ tickets you will not receive a physical paper ticket for the event in the post. Your ticket is a Paperless ticket, which means that you will need to bring the card that you used at the time of booking with you to the event. This card will then be scanned at the gates to validate your ticket. Full details and instructions about your Paperless ticket have been sent to the email address you provided at the time of booking. If you have not received this email please contact the Ticketmaster 24hr booking helpline on 0333 321 9999.
What happens if my tickets don't arrive?
If you live within the area covered by covered by Hull City and East Riding of Yorkshire Council and surrounding areas - and have not received your tickets before the event date, please get in touch with or call 0333 321 9996 to arrange duplicate tickets for collection from the onsite box office.
Your original tickets will be cancelled and the barcode on them invalidated – this means they will not give you entry to the event. In order to collect your replacement tickets you will need to provide Photo ID or the credit/debit card used to make the booking plus proof you live at the address used when booking - for example a driving licence or utility bill.
Why do tickets appear on social media or other websites and is it safe to buy them?
Unfortunately a small handful of people do try to take advantage of those disappointed at missing out and claim – sometimes falsely - they have tickets you can buy. We ask those running major auction websites and sales outlets to have posts offering tickets for sale removed. However, since these posts do not need to be approved before appearing, they are unable to stop them being advertised in the first place.
Please do not risk buying these tickets. Those offering tickets for sale or as prizes are breaking the Terms & Conditions they agreed to during the booking process and we reserve the right to cancel them. In the past, some people have claimed their tickets have failed to arrive and cancelled them, ordering replacements. They have then offered the original tickets for sale; with those buying them not realising they are worthless until they turn up at the event on the day.
You may also see posts on social media sites from people claiming they have tickets to give away as prizes. We are unable to stop this unless we know the relevant ticket numbers and there is no way to tell if their claims to have usable tickets are genuine or not – many may just be trying to get more ‘likes’ for their pages.
Can I swap my tickets with a friend who has tickets for a different day?
Your tickets are personal to you and feature a unique barcode, which is scanned at the entrance to the event. They are fully traceable and we can cancel them at any time by invalidating the barcode.
If your tickets have been sent to you, you can swap tickets for a different day with a friend, but do so at your own risk. We will not issue replacement tickets if the ones your friend gives you are invalid for any reason. You may also give your tickets to a friend – but must not sell them. However, if you have a Paperless ticket, or need to collect a replacement ticket, you will need to turn up in person at the event – others cannot collect tickets on your behalf.
What should I wear?
This is an outdoor event and you may want to check the weather forecast before coming, bringing suntan lotion, raincoats, jumpers, or all three, accordingly. Temperatures are likely to dip when the sun goes down and the event continues until around 10pm. A number of items are not permitted into the arena including golf umbrellas, flags and portable chairs – you can check out the ticket Terms & Conditions for full details.
Will I be able to camp at the event site?
No, there are no audience camping areas or facilities available on-site for Radio 1’s Big Weekend – we recommend running a search online to find suitable sites locally.
Why is there an Event Administration fee?
大象传媒 Radio 1’s Big Weekend is funded primarily by Radio 1 from the television licence fee and our coverage means people across the UK can all get a taste of the action themselves via their radio, TV or interactive devices. Hopefully you’ll agree it is fair to ask those lucky enough to attend the event in person to make a small contribution towards the direct costs of them being there.
The event administration fee is made up of a ‘booking fee’ which is retained by our ticket provider, Ticketmaster, and covers all costs associated with applying for tickets, printing and posting them, and then scanning you into the event. The other portion contributes towards the kinds of services we need specifically to ensure the audience can enjoy the event safely - stewards, security, barriers, and the welfare services in place for everyone.
Can I bring food and drink into the event?
No food or drink can be taken into the site – with the exception of personal supplies of water in a plastic container with an unbroken seal (up to 500 ml per person), or special medical supplies (please bring a doctor’s note if these are not obviously medicinal). Food and alcohol will be on sale inside the venue.
Bars at the event will be operating a ‘Challenge 25’ policy. If bar staff feel you look under the age of 25 they will ask you to provide photo ID with proof that you are over the age of 18. The following forms of ID will be accepted: 1) a valid passport; 2) a valid European Union Photocard Driving Licence; 3) a valid photographic identity card bearing the National Proof Of age Standards Scheme (PASS) hologram.
Can I bring a camera?
Yes, but please be aware professional photography equipment is not allowed and we advise you to leave zoom lenses and other pieces of expensive film/filming equipment at home. Profession recording equipment is prohibited, as are selfie-sticks. See the ticket Terms & Conditions for further details of prohibited items.
What facilities will be available at the venue for disabled visitors?
We are committed to doing all we can to ensure everyone can enjoy this unique event and will have a range of facilities in place to assist disabled people with tickets. This includes viewing platforms/areas, accessible toilets, car parking, wheelchair parking loops and free PA/Companion carer tickets.
See our Disabled Access Information page for full details of the available facilities.
Please note these facilities are not available to those with short-term injuries, for example broken legs, or women who are pregnant. There are medical and welfare facilities on site for all customers, but use of the disabled facilities will be strictly regulated.
Where can I watch and listen to coverage of the event?
大象传媒 Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be broadcast across 大象传媒 Radio 1, on the Radio 1 website and on 大象传媒 iPlayer. We will bring you live coverage, all the highlights, exclusive access and special performances throughout the festival and for the following few weeks.
Can my band play at the event?
We are not looking for any more bands to play this year, but if you want to be in with a chance of playing on a 大象传媒 Introducing stage in future, try uploading your music to 大象传媒 Introducing.
Can I request tickets for my charity?
We get many requests asking for tickets for charity initiatives and other good causes, but unfortunately are not usually able to help. We try to read all requests sent to us; however please do not be offended if, due to the large number of enquiries we receive, we do not have time to respond to you personally.
