A surefire way to get a massive cheer at Glastonbury is to bring on a special guest. The starrier the better for sure, but you also get bonus points from the clued-up Glasto crowd for topicality - a zeit-guest, if you will. So without wanting to turn the whole shebang into a Taylor Swift-style game of plus-oneupmanship, here are the best of 2017's special guest appearances.
Kris Kristofferson + Johnny Depp & Bradley Cooper & Margo Price
Octogenarian country star Kris Kristofferson may not have been the biggest name on the Pyramid Stage this year, particularly with the younger audience. But he made up for that with the calibre of his guests, leaning on his Hollywood connections to bring both Johnny Depp and Bradley Cooper to Somerset (oh, and Brad Pitt was watching from the wings too). Meanwhile, Kris's duet with fellow country singer Margo Price was the highlight of his set.
Major Lazer + Dua Lipa
Admittedly, given their singles, there are some biggest guests that Major Lazer could have brought out. But perhaps Glastonbury isn't ready for Biebermania just yet. Instead, we got an impressively athletic turn from Dua Lipa on My Love.
Annie Mac + a gospel choir
DJ sets can get a bit samey, huh? Just one person up there, pressing a few buttons? Not this time...
Clean Bandit + Marina Diamandis
Clean Bandit have scored big hits in conjunction with Jess Glynne, Zara Larsson and Anne-Marie. And it sounds like they've got another one on their hands with Marina of 'and the Diamonds' fame.
British Sea Power + a polar bear
Just because you live on a iceberg and tear seals apart with your claws doesn't mean you're not welcome at Glastonbury.
Loyle Carner + his Mum
2017 was the year of parental tributes. First Nadia Rose, then Stormzy, then Loyle Carner brought his actual Mum on stage. Proper welling up here...
Sleaford Mods + Lord Buckethead
Run the Jewels may have enjoyed the benefit of following Jeremy Corbyn on-stage, but Sleaford Mods found another popular political leader to introduce their set on the Park Stage. Give this man/intergalactic being a real peerage, now!
Phoenix + Mozart & Napoleon
As we all know, Glastonbury is a magical place where anything can happen. So don't rule it out...
