One of the most impressive attractions at New Lanark in Scotland is the Falls of Clyde, a stunning waterfall 85 feet high.


The waterfall was immortalised by William Wordsworth who called it the Clyde's "most majestic daughter".

Peregrine viewing. Watch live CCTV footage of the Peregrines in the visitor centre.

Badger watching. Bat watches. Visitor centre. Guided walks. Falls of Clyde. Remains of Corra Castle. New Lanark historic mill and town nearby.

Essential kit:Binoculars to watch Newts and birds. Take an O/S map with you as the Forestry Commission say that people frequently get lost - it's a big place.
Best times for nature watching:

Peregrine watchpoint - April-June. Mid May is a great time to visit when the Peregrines are raising chicks.

Access:

Variable terrain - steep in places.

Good wheelchair access to the visitor centre but access is limited to the adjacent Falls of Clyde reserve. An upgrade of access will take place in the coming years - contact the ranger service for more details - 01555 665262.

Getting there:

Located one mile south of Lanark, off the A73. Follow signposts for New Lanark World Heritage Site. Bus service from Lanark hourly.

Opening times:The reserve is open daily 8am-8pm year round. The visitor centre is open daily between March-December (except Christmas Bank Holidays) 11am-5pm.
Charges:Adults 拢3; Children under 16 free; Concessions 拢2.
Guided walks and wildlife watches from 拢4. Badger watching - 拢6 for adults, 拢3 for kids.
