Wembury is located to the east of Plymouth within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This stunning coastal area was hidden from public view for many years when it was acquired by the Ministry Of Defence in 1940. Now it's a great place for rock pooling and beach combing.

Essential kit:Rockpooling kit - nets, wellies or sturdy shoes, buckets.
Nature watching:Rock pooling, beach combing, bird watching. Organised rook pool walks in summer.
Access:Some rocky and wet areas on beach.
Getting there:

Wembury visitor centre is reached from the A379 at Elburton - follow the signs for Wembury and the beach. Wembury beach is just a 20 minute bus-ride from the centre of Plymouth.

Safety: Check tide times before visiting Wembury beach.

Opening times:Year round beach access but check tide times before leaving home.
Charges:Free.
