is the largest of the Norfolk Broads and forms part of a bigger complex of 116
square miles of freshwater lakes. Hickling National Nature Reserve has
a great circular walk with hides, and an observation hut with wonderful views
of a wide variety of wildlife from Barn Owls to Marsh Harriers. | |  | The British Isles was once a wet, marshy place. Despite
the loss of many natural wetlands, they are still amazing places to enjoy the
natural world.

sailing, walking. 听 The Raptor Watchpoint at Stubb Mill is a good
starting point for watching wildlife.
The best time is mid February
to mid March - but only when the temperature is above 10 degrees or there's a
warm sun.
听 The Water Trail runs from mid-May to mid-September, and
leads visitors through the backwaters of the Broad - it also provides access to
the Tree Tower hide (additional charge). 听 Hickling is the best place
to look for Cranes in the wild. | | Access: | Wheelchair

is no parking at the raptor watchpoint - instead park at Norfolk Wildlife Trust's
visitor centre and walk to the watchpoint. | | Getting

of Stalham in north east Norfolk. Signposted from the A149 Stalham-Great Yarmouth
road. Bus service located a 20-minute walk away. | | Opening
