Breastfeeding advice for Lincolnshire mothers
- Published
Mothers across Lincolnshire are being offered advice and support about breastfeeding.
A series of events will take place all over the county to mark Breastfeeding Awareness Week.
The NHS says there are now more than 20 BreastStart support groups in Lincolnshire as well as two baby cafes.
Amanda Street, of Lincolnshire Community Health Services said many women were committed to helping other mothers to breastfeed.
Mothers' support
She said: "Most of the events taking place during national breastfeeding week have been organised by qualified breastfeeding peer supporters and mums.
"Women who breastfeed their child are protecting them from childhood diabetes, obesity and asthma, and reducing their risk of breast and ovarian cancer."
Information will be available from Lincoln's Waterside Shopping Centre all week.
On Wednesday, 12 mothers will be presented with certificates for completing a training course to give support to other women in Boston.
Picnic events are being held in Sutterton, Alford and at Sutton Bridge.
