Organisers of the Highland's only comic book expo have said next year's event should be a "technological marvel".

HiEx, to be held at Eden Court in Inverness, will explore the world of digital comics and podcasts. Previous expos have tackled romance in popular comic strips.

The latest exhibition has been planned for 26 and 27 March.

Guests expected to appear include artists Colin MacNeil and Boo Cook.

A comic fan made a 1,300-mile round trip from his home in Kent to Inverness to attend this year's expo.

John Burdis drove a minibus from Maidstone and picked up others on his way to join several hundred people at HiEx.

He dubbed the trip the HiEx Hell-Trek.
