States of Jersey sets aside 拢6m redundancy fund

Voluntary redundancy is to be offered to public employees in Jersey.
The States Council of Ministers agreed to 拢50m worth of public spending cuts earlier this year as part of a Comprehensive Spending Review.
Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf said attention would be paid to ensure all departments were able to operate with fewer staff.
A pot of 拢6m has been set aside to cover the costs, but the number of job losses is not known.
The States said as yet there was "no specific figure cast in stone".
The Employment Board is due to meet soon, after which it will consult with trade union representatives.
