Passengers have been warned a section of the Metro will be closed on Thursday evening to repair a station building.
Loose coping stones were found at Benton on Sunday, which shut Platform One.
Operator Nexus has extended the platform closure until Friday, and said part of the line between South Gosforth and Shiremoor will be closed in both directions while the stones are removed.
A spokesperson said overhead lines will need to be "switched off" while the repairs are carried out.
The last train from South Gosforth towards Shiremoor on Thursday will depart at 18:34 BST, and the last train from Shiremoor towards South Gosforth will be at 18:33 BST.
The replacement bus service 900 will then run between both stations.
"The closure will also allow for some other essential work to be undertaken by our engineers," the spokesperson said.
"This includes lineside estate works and station improvements at Four Lane Ends and Benton."
