A man has been charged with arson after a blaze that the fire service said residents were "lucky to escape" from.

Three bungalows were badly damaged in the fire on Harrogate Walk in Corby, Northamptonshire, at about 16:00 BST on 26 June.

A 42-year-old man appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Friday.

He has been remanded in custody until his next hearing at Northampton Crown Court on 9 August.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service sent six appliances to the fire, which a station commander at the scene described as "devastating".
