Up to £400,000 will be spent upgrading front doors on council tenants' homes in a Staffordshire town.

Alongside a programme of kitchen, bathroom and window improvements, almost 100 front doors on low-rise blocks in Tamworth will be replaced, Tamworth Borough Council said.

It follows a two-year scheme of safety improvements to high-rise homes in the area.

Work will will begin on Monday according to councillor Ben Clarke, portfolio holder for housing, homelessness and planning.

“We want every resident to feel safe and secure in their homes, and this programme supports this," he added.
