Motorcyclist critical after crash involving a car

A motorcyclist aged in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash involving a car on a main road, say police.

The man was riding on the A379 near Aveton Gifford, south Devon at about 15:25 BST on Friday when the crash happened, said the Devon and Cornwall force.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which involved a Honda motorcycle and a Skoda Octavia.

The motorcyclist's family has been informed, said police.

The Skoda driver was also taken to hospital for treatment, said officers.

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.
