A 74-year-old man has died in hospital after two cars and a van crashed in the Scottish Borders.

The accident - involving a white Range Rover Evoque, a silver Vauxhall Insignia and a yellow Iveco Daily van - happened at about 09:40 on Monday on the A7 near Boleside, south of Galashiels.

The driver of the Vauxhall was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

His 72-year-old female passenger and the 41-year-old woman driving the Range Rover were also treated in hospital and released.

The road was shut for more than three hours while accident investigations took place.
