A teenager who stabbed a man outside a shopping centre has admitted murder.
Tom Ellis, 25, died in hospital after suffering a stab wound near the Ropewalk shopping centre in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, on 8 June.
A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to murder and unlawful possession of a knife at Warwick Crown Court.
Judge Andrew Lockhart KC told the teenager he would receive a life sentence when he returns to court in September.
Following the guilty plea to the charge of murder, a basis of plea was read to the court which stated that the offence was not pre-planned.
"There was no intention to kill" Mr Ellis, the court heard.
