Part of a major road in Newcastle has reopened following a "serious" crash.
The B1318 Great North Road in Jesmond was closed in both directions on Thursday morning for several hours, which affected traffic travelling near the city centre.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said its teams were called to the scene just before 03:00 GMT.
The road was closed from the Blue House Roundabout to the A167M Central Motorway, Northumbria Police said.
It confirmed the road reopened in both directions at about 10:30 GMT, after investigation work took place.
The crash was described as "serious" by the AA's traffic monitoring service, which warned drivers of delays.
An NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called just before 03:00 GMT to a road traffic incident on Great North Road and dispatched two double crewed ambulances and a clinical team leader."
