An investigation is under way after a number of people entered a pub and threw a brick at a man and a woman.
Officers received a report of an assault at The Ivy House, on Worcester Street in Sunderland at about 20:20 GMT on Saturday, police said.
Northumbria Police said: "It was reported that offenders had entered the pub and thrown what was understood to be a brick which hit a man and a woman, before fleeing the scene."
Nobody suffered serious injuries, police said.
The pub posted a statement on social media which said there had been an "incident" in the pub on Saturday evening.
It said: "As you are all aware this is not a common occurrence at the Ivy House but was dealt with quickly and efficiently by our team."
