A man has been jailed after a stabbing near a Nottinghamshire police station.
Connor Kelsall, 26, stabbed his victim at least six times in December 2023 near Newark Police Station.
Police gave first aid in the station car park before the man was taken to hospital for surgery to repair a collapsed lung.
Kelsall, of Bridge Street, Newark, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a knife in a public place and was jailed for six years and nine months.
He was sentenced on Tuesday at Nottingham Crown Court after the December attack between blocks of flats in Lover’s Lane.
Nottinghamshire Police said Kelsall pulled out a knife during an argument with the man before he stabbed him.
As well as the prison sentence, Kelsall will be subject to a 15-year restraining order, banning contact with the victim.
Det Con Chloe Baugh, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thankfully, for everyone involved, the victim’s injuries weren’t even more serious, and he quickly received the medical treatment he needed.
“One of the reasons for this was due to the actions of the officers who provided first aid to the victim at Newark Police Station until paramedics arrived."
