Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman and child were bitten by a dog in Devon.
Officers said the attack happened at the Sidmouth seafront area at about 19:30 BST on Sunday 11 August and involved a rottweiler-type dog.
"It was reported that following a conversation involving the dog’s owner about whether or not it should be on the beach, the dog bit a child and then bit the child’s mum as she jumped in to protect her child," Devon and Cornwall Police said.
The two victims were taken to hospital with non-serious injuries, the force added.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
