A 68-year-old woman has been arrested after a pedestrian died following a crash.
Greater Manchester Police said it was called to reports of car striking a 72-year-old woman in Melbourne Grove, Bolton, at 14:10 BST.
The pedestrian was treated at the scene but died from her injuries.
The force said the car was alleged to have been travelling eastbound and struck the woman on a pavement.
A suspect was detained on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in police custody.
PC Thomas Johnson said: "Our investigation is still in the early stages, and I would urge anyone with information or detail that could assist our investigation should do so at the earliest opportunity."
