A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a hit-and-run in Plymouth city centre.
The crash involving a car and a pedestrian took place on Southside Street at about 14:05 GMT on Thursday.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they had arrested a man in his 20s from Tavistock. He remains in police custody.
One man was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries, the force said.
Paramedics and the RNLI both attended the scene and a road closure was put in place, police said.
The force appealed for anyone with dash-cam footage, CCTV or phone footage to contact them.
