Police appeal for cyclist after stabbing

Police investigating a serious stabbing have appealed for help in tracing a cyclist.

A man in his 40s suffered life-changing injuries during the incident in Ashburnham Road, Bedford at about 21:00 BST on 12 May.

Officers said a man seen leaving the scene on a bike was believed to have been involved.

Bedfordshire Police said it was thought to have been an isolated incident and the wider community was not at risk.

The victim of the attack remained in hospital in a stable condition.

A man in his 30s, detained later the same evening "in relation to the incident", was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said they were trying to trace the cyclist seen leaving in the direction of Midland Road.

"We are appealing for information relating to a third person who was at the scene and is believed to have been involved," police said.

"He was described as white, with dark hair, wearing a black jacket seen leaving the scene on a pedal bike."

Det Con Zoe Keepin added: 鈥淲e are still in the early stages of this investigation but believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the community.

鈥淲e鈥檙e keen to hear from people who were in the area and may have captured the lead-up to the incident or the aftermath with dashcam or CCTV footage.鈥
