Construction work starts on new cycle route

Construction work has started on a new cycle route on the A429 in Warwick.
It will run along the western side of Coventry Road, between the Grand Union canal bridge at Woodloes Park, and St John鈥檚, completing a key link in the local network, the county council said.
New crossing points will be included as well the first parallel crossing in the county which combines a zebra crossing with a separate crossing for people cycling.
The main phase of work takes place between May and September and motorists are warned of disruption due as temporary lights will be in use.
Jan Matecki, the council's portfolio holder for transport and planning, said officials looked at feedback from residents and refined some of the original proposals.
鈥淭his important cycle link will provide new opportunities for active travel journeys to be made along this corridor, supporting journeys to local destinations such as Warwick train station and Warwick Hospital."
The council received 拢4m towards creating walking and cycling routes in the county.
