Highland Council says planned repair work on the Infirmary footbridge in Inverness has been delayed.

The local authority had intended to start the 拢535,000 project during this tax year.

But officials said the scheme had been pushed back to 2025/26 because money needs to be reallocated to other projects including repairs to Rose Street Car Park in Inverness.

The planned work on the 140-year-old bridge is designed to address safety issues.

The bridge has to be closed during major events to prevent too much weight being put on it.

Highland Council said more extensive refurbishment or replacement would still be required, but funding was not currently available.
