Long running work to improve a roundabout in north Devon that has caused disruption for drivers, is said to be nearing completion.

Devon County Council (DCC) had to apologise earlier this year after work on the Cedars roundabout near Barnstaple caused severe traffic congestion.

DCC said the final phase of overnight closures near the junction was due to start on 30 May and will be completed in June.

Engineers hope the work, involving a new pedestrian crossing, will be completed in mid-June.

DCC said the road closures would allow road-marking and resurfacing work on the southern arm of the roundabout.

During this time, the A3125 will be closed between 18:30 and 06:30 BST.

Diversions will be in place and Bickington Road will remain open throughout.
