A motorcyclist has suffered "life-changing injuries" after a crash with a car on the North York Moors, police have said.

The collision happened on Blakey Ridge near Kirkbymoorside at 13:40 GMT on Saturday, North Yorkshire Police said.

The 77-year-old man from York was riding a black Suzuki motorcycle heading towards Castleton when it was in collision with a grey Kia Niro going towards Kirkbymoorside.

He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

The occupants of the car were not injured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward and any dashcam footage.
