A man has been arrested after police received reports of a dog being killed in Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers had been told a chihuahua dog was killed in Lanner, near Redruth.

The force said a local 65-year-old man was arrested on 10 November on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

The man had been released on bail while officers continued to make inquiries, police added.
