Man re-bailed over death of ice hockey player

A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of Nottingham ice hockey player Adam Johnson has had his bail extended by police.

Panthers player Johnson suffered a fatal neck injury from a skate during a collision with Sheffield Steelers' Matt Petgrave.

The 29-year-old was taken to hospital in Sheffield on 28 October 2023 where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination confirmed he died as a result of a neck injury, said South Yorkshire Police.

On Monday, police said a man, who was initially arrested in November, had been bailed again until 11 November.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Our investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts remain with Adam鈥檚 family.鈥
